Cychlorphine Detox & Treatment in California
Cychlorphine is a new synthetic opioid that labs estimate may be about 10 times more potent than fentanyl.1 It’s often hidden in fentanyl, counterfeit pills, and other drugs, so many people exposed to it don’t know it. If you’ve been using fentanyl or street pills in California, your drug supply may have contained cychlorphine or other new synthetic opioids. Laguna Treatment Center offers hospital-based medical detox and inpatient rehab to help you stop safely.
Is Cychlorphine in California?
Yes. Cychlorphine has been detected in California in several ways:
- DEA crime lab data lists California among the states reporting cychlorphine.2
- A national toxicology lab has detected it in patient samples from California.3
- San Francisco reported a cychlorphine-related death in 2026 and has resumed wastewater testing to catch new drugs earlier.4
- A related orphine was first detected in West Coast drug samples in February 2026.2
Most U.S. cases so far are in Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas. But national monitoring has detected cychlorphine coast to coast, and routine drug tests don’t detect it.5
Why Hospital-Based Detox Matters With New Synthetic Opioids
When the drug supply contains substances you can’t see or test for, detox becomes harder to predict. That’s especially true when several are mixed together. Cychlorphine has been found alongside fentanyl, xylazine, medetomidine, and designer benzodiazepines.2 Each of these affects withdrawal differently. Some, such as benzodiazepines, can cause dangerous withdrawal on their own.
At Laguna, hospital-based medical detox means:
- 24/7 medical monitoring by physicians and nurses in a hospital setting
- A full medical and toxicology assessment on admission, because you may not know everything you were exposed to
- Medications to ease withdrawal and manage complications from mixed substances
- A careful plan for starting medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) such as buprenorphine, adjusted for exposure to very potent synthetic opioids
Treatment After Detox
Detox is the first step. After it, Laguna offers:
- Inpatient rehab with individual and group therapy, including CBT and other evidence-based therapies
- Treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions
- A virtual intensive outpatient program (IOP) so you can continue care from home anywhere in California
- Aftercare planning, including an overdose prevention plan. Tolerance drops quickly after detox, which makes relapse with an unpredictable drug supply especially dangerous.
If Someone Overdoses
Call 911 right away and give naloxone (Narcan). If there’s no response in 2–3 minutes, give another dose. Cychlorphine may require several doses.5 Naloxone is available over the counter at California pharmacies. Learn where to get Narcan in Orange County.
Call 24/7 or check your insurance coverage. Laguna accepts most commercial insurance plans but is not currently in network with Medicare or Medi-Cal.
