Gilbert is a certified drug and alcohol counselor with over 14 years of experience. For him, this line of work is personal. Gilbert is a self-professed “friend of Bill W” with 16 years of sobriety.

Gilbert holds a degree in drug and alcohol studies from InterCoast College, where he served as valedictorian of his class.

Over the years, he has studied and used various addiction treatment modalities, earning additional certifications in relapse prevention, denial management, and Seeking Safety. He has also held several leadership positions, such as program manager and program director, in all levels of care, from medical detox and RTC to PHP and IOP.

Gilbert loves running groups, educating people on the disease of addiction, and helping them develop new coping skills. He also enjoys working with AAC alumni and attending alumni events to give former patients support.

“I like seeing people piece their lives back together and build a life worth living.”
