The Treatment Center with a Support Network
Drug or alcohol addictions are diseases that, unfortunately, impact many individuals and their loved ones across the United States. Making a decision to go to treatment is a big deal. Attending and completing treatment takes courage. And facing the real world through a new set of “sober lenses” takes support.
At Laguna Treatment Center, an American Addiction Centers’ facility, we provide an alumni program referred to as HOPE, which stands for Helping Other People Engage. Members of the program work with individuals while in treatment in order to help them remain committed to completing the program. Because they’ve been through the program themselves, they come from a place of experience and empathy to lead and help others towards a life of long-term sobriety.
Located in beautiful and sunny California, the Laguna alumni program is both an online and in-person network of individuals who meet each Friday night at the Laguna Treatment Center itself. Although the focus has been on panel discussions, coordinators of the group aim to add new benefits and events.
The compassion that exudes from the alumni more than likely makes it a seamless transition for those who choose to work as case managers with current patients, as many of our alumni have chosen to do. Case managers create travel arrangements, pick individuals up from the airport, prep them for the admissions process, contribute to treatment planning, and the individual’s care program. Our alumni genuinely care about the welfare of new patients, and what better way for individuals to give back by pulling others up and along the road to recovery.
Additionally, part of being successful in recovery is found in the period of time known as aftercare. The medical staff evaluates individual’s mental and physical health, as well as their progression with addiction therapy in order to develop an aftercare plan that is tailored to the individual’s needs.
A case manager helps the individual even during the aftercare process, checking in to make sure they are taking their prescriptions (if any), attending group therapy, and ensuring they are attending their outpatient sessions.
American Addiction Centers even created an alumni app tied directly to Laguna Treatment Center. The app allows individuals to:
- Maintain a gratitude journal.
- Track recovery goals.
- Participate in wellness challenges.
- Stay connected to a supportive community.
- Access recovery-related content.
Drug and alcohol addictions are diseases that have a huge impact on the lives of the individuals using, as well as to their family and friends. But it doesn’t have to be a life-long upward battle. Help and support is a phone call away from making all of the difference in an individual’s life. Laguna Treatment Center provides the care, the support, and guidance that individuals need in order to live a healthy and productive life in long-term sobriety. You never have to be alone, even when you’re nearing the end of treatment. With HOPE by your side, there’s always the possibility of not only surviving, but thriving in your new sober life.
