Specialized Rehab Programs

Specialized rehab programs can enhance the addiction recovery experience by addressing unique challenges and preferences. When treatment is tailored to specific backgrounds, cultures, religions, genders, or age groups, individuals may feel more comfortable and open to discussion. This can lead to more productive group therapy sessions and an improved overall treatment experience.

At our Orange County rehab, we are proud to offer a range of specialized programming designed to meet the needs of our diverse patient population.

Chronic Relapse Treatment Track

At Laguna Treatment Center, we offer a specialty track to address and prevent chronic relapse using effective long-term treatment. This program is designed for people who have been through treatment before and relapsed.

Relapse does not mean failure. It may simply mean that treatment needs to be adjusted, new approaches need to be applied, or steps need to be repeated. Many people achieve lasting recovery after multiple admissions to drug or alcohol rehabilitation.

The chronic relapse treatment track is customized to each individual, building on skills they have previously developed, exploring the shame associated with relapse, and taking steps to prevent relapse in the future.

Veteran Addiction Treatment Program

Many Veterans struggle with physical injuries and health problems sustained during active duty, which can lead to reliance on drugs and alcohol for symptom relief. Military service can also leave invisible scars, the kind you can’t see or touch. As a result, Veterans are at increased risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders.

Our facility has a specialized rehab program for Veterans designed to meet the unique needs of servicemen and women battling addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. At Laguna, we use a “mission-focused” approach, which combines the principles of strength-based therapy and positive psychology to help Veterans navigate mental health challenges, substance use issues, and the transition into civilian life.

First responders, including firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and ER workers, are also welcome to attend this program.

Tribal Recovery Track

Created for Native American patients, this specialized program involves a morning meditation, talking circle, and sage smudging. The track is led by Gilbert Issac, a Red Road Curriculum-trained facilitator who weaves various principles of this approach into group therapy sessions and other activities.

Topics covered include the Seven Sacred Values (prayer, honesty, humility, compassion, respect, generosity, and wisdom), recovery, and well-being. Participants may also be permitted to bring in certain spiritual items like eagle feathers, sage, sweetgrass, cedar, tobacco, abalone shells, turtle shells, buffalo horns, wampum belts, animal skin, and animal bones.*

The group facilitator also serves as a case manager for this patient group, ensuring their holistic needs are met and arranging spiritual mentorship visitation and culturally appropriate aftercare.
