Why Hospital-Based Treatment Matters: The Clinical Advantage

Most addiction treatment facilities are either medical detox units OR residential rehab, operating separately. Laguna’s unique hospital license changes everything:

Continuous Medical Oversight

With 3 board-certified physicians and 30+ RNs, your medical status is monitored 24/7, not just during detox. This matters for co-occurring medical conditions, medication management, and safety.

Integrated Detox-to-Rehab Transition

Rather than transferring between facilities, you detox and continue treatment in the same caring environment, minimizing disruption and maintaining therapeutic relationships.

Licensed Hospital Protocols

Laguna operates under hospital accreditation standards (JCAHO certified), ensuring infection control, medication safety, and emergency response capabilities surpassing those of typical rehab facilities.

Complex Case Expertise

Chronic relapse, multiple prior treatments, medical complications, severe co-occurring disorders—our hospital license enables us to serve the cases that other facilities turn away.

Scenic, Serene Setting

Despite hospital-level care, guests enjoy luxury hotel-style rooms, landscaped grounds, pool, gym, and coastal Southern California beauty—supporting mental and emotional healing.

Medical Detoxification: Hospital-Level Safety & Comfort

Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids can be medically dangerous. At Laguna, detoxification is managed by physicians using evidence-based medications and protocols:

Phase What Happens
Intake (Day 1) Comprehensive medical assessment, vital signs monitoring, psychiatric evaluation, substance use history, and assessment of co-occurring medical/mental health conditions.
Stabilization (Days 2-5) Medication-assisted withdrawal management. Physicians prescribe FDA-approved medications (like buprenorphine or naltrexone) to minimize discomfort and cravings.
Early Recovery (Days 6-9) Physical stabilization continues. Counseling, education, and peer support begin. Transition planning to the residential treatment phase.
Residential Transition (Week 2+) Shift from medical focus to therapeutic focus. Introduction to group and individual therapy, family sessions, and ongoing medication management as needed.

Facility Amenities: Comfort Supports Recovery

Healing happens best when the environment supports it. Laguna’s Aliso Viejo facility features luxury amenities designed for both comfort and therapeutic value:

  • Hotel-style private and semi-private rooms with modern furnishings and peaceful views
  • Outdoor heated pool for swimming, water therapy, and relaxation
  • Fully equipped fitness center and gymnasium for physical wellness
  • Beautifully landscaped grounds with scenic walking paths and peaceful seating areas
  • Comfortable lounge with television, movies, and social spaces for peer connection
  • Nutritious chef-prepared meals supporting physical health and energy
  • Peaceful meditation and reflection spaces
  • Close proximity to Orange County’s natural beauty—beaches, hiking, scenic vistas

Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment: Addressing Root Causes

Research shows 45% of people with addiction also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. Treating only the addiction while ignoring depression, anxiety, or PTSD is like treating a symptom while ignoring the disease.

Laguna specializes in treating both simultaneously:

  • Depression & Suicidal Ideation
  • Anxiety Disorders & Panic Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Eating Disorders
  • Chronic Pain Conditions
